MPS & Capacity Planning Manager

Sedico, Italia

What has your journey been like at Luxottica? How did you start, and where are you now?

Thanks to a Luxottica scholarship, I graduated from the University of Padua with a degree in Engineering. I then went on to complete a Masters in Innovation Management at CUOA Business School. My adventure with Luxottica began in May 2014 as an intern in the Industrial Supply Chain department, just as the new Planning SCP system was going live. I moved to the Sedico plant just over a year later and went on to work as Plant Planner. The fantastic experience at the Sedico plant lasted 5 years. It gave me the chance to really get involved in the manufacturing processes and taught me the value of trade-off and the importance of being part of a team. Since then, I have spent the last year back at the Industrial Supply Chain corporate department, overseeing the Master Production Schedule and Capacity team, which is where my own adventure began.

What do you love about your job?

One thing I love about my job is interacting with people. Being able to work with a competent and passionate team makes even the most chaotic days stimulating.

How do you simply describe what you do to friends or family who don’t know about Luxottica?

I have a really fun job, which offers me a great overview of the entire industrial structure of Luxottica in Italy.
In practical terms, we develop production schedules to supply the factories, analyse future risks relating to capacity resources (capital and labour) and support the factories in organising production for the coming months.
We are constantly in contact with the manufacturing division and the demand planning team in order to guarantee the best possible service level for the market.
These days, everything changes very quickly, meaning that we must be very responsive and dynamic, without losing sight of our vision and long-term improvement.

What are the most important skills for your role?

The two skills I consider most important for my role are having good "insight into the game", to identify risks in advance, and strong interpersonal skills to get people involved and direct action effectively.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve encountered, and how did you overcome it?

I have had the opportunity to deal with many challenges over the years. One that stands out most is starting a new role during the pandemic. Without being able to meet the team in person I had to adapt to a new way of working and managing daily activities.

What does collaboration look like in your office?

Collaboration in our office is brilliant and really part of the culture that defines us. It is also a fundamental asset when carrying out any sort of activity and in terms of completing projects.

What is the most important lesson you have learned here?

Creating something new is easy. The difficult part is transforming it into a structured process that can stand the test of time.

What does Luxottica offer to support work-life balance? Are you able to balance your personal goals with your professional goals at Luxottica?

Despite the hard work, there's always the opportunity to cultivate our own passions, interests, and personal relationships. Moreover, the fact that Agordo is a small town makes it easier to meet up and socialise with colleagues.
